  • Football - 1st XI vs Lord Williams’ School

    Tue 31 Jan 2023

On Tuesday, TWBS 1st XI took on Lord Williams’ School. The boys started brightly with a fast opening goal from Ben Florida-James and good defensive work rate that put the opposition under pressure.  Tom Coomber converted a free kick from 30 yards to extend the lead which was soon followed by another fantastic strike from Luke Phillips.  A flourish of goals from Will Gillies and Oli Bach late in the first half took TWBS into a strong position of 5-0 going into half-time. With the introduction of James Miller as striker in the second half, TWBS gained a new found energy up front and James was unlucky not to convert. Lord Williams’ scored a sloppy goal but TWBS hit back with a chip from outside the box from Tom. The score finished 6-1, the team can be very happy with how they played with fantastic composure and passing from everyone, especially in the second half.

Many thanks to Mr Jeffery, Mr Woods and Mr Breen for organising the game.

  • Night at the Musicals – Monday 30th January 2023

    Mon 30 Jan 2023

What a way to end the first month of 2023! On Monday we had 46 students performing to a packed Studio Theatre. We had songs from a wide range of musicals, and there were some that were new to me! But we also had some classics, and it was great to hear students singing solos and duets. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and sing in front of 120 people.  Each and every student who sang did themselves and their school proud. The talent on display was just incredible and I am hugely grateful to the students from both TWBS and WGS. We have a bright future ahead with an amazing cohort of Year 9 students and I am excited to watch them develop.  Thanks to Miss Walter for helping me with rehearsals and Mr Thomas for supporting me on the night. If you came along, thanks for joining us.

  • Berkshire Schools Cross Country Championships

    Sat 21 Jan 2023

A great result at the (very cold!) Berkshire Schools Cross Country Championships at Newbury Showground on Saturday 21st January with winners in both the U15 and U17 races.  Thibault Mingret (Year 9) had a clear victory in the U15 boys with Alex Calver coming a very respectable 26th.  Ben Dewar (Year 11) had more of a battle in the U17 race, with a final 300m sprint securing a win.  Jack Perkins ran his first race in the UK and did well in the U17 inter-boys.  Finally, James Hookham ran in the U19 race, coming 13th over a distance of  7.09km.  A tough race!

Ben and Thibault will run for Berkshire at the England Schools Cross Country final in Nottingham in March.

Many thanks to Mrs Dewar for being Team Manager on the day.
