Headteacher's Welcome

It is a real privilege to welcome you to The Windsor Boys’ School website.

The Windsor Boys’ School is a 13-18 secondary school which combines over 100 years of tradition and success with a modern and forward-thinking vision, that prepares all our students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st Century.

The school is a vibrant and caring community, offering an array of opportunities to learn, develop, achieve and grow. As well as the aspiration for students to be successful in a range of subjects and extra-curricular clubs, we ensure that students understand their own personal and social development, as well as ensuring they are empathetic towards others.

The school has a history of excellence in public examinations, providing an environment where students can flourish, with OFSTED commenting that the relationships between teachers and students are “strong and positive”, and that students have “very positive attitudes towards learning”. These relationships and attitudes are key to the school’s strong academic performance.

Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all students are able to succeed, regardless of their starting points.

At A Level, we offer a wide range of subjects, both academic and vocational, and well over 50% of grades achieved are A*-B, with high rates of university entrance.  In OFSTED’s most recent inspection, the sixth form was recognised as being “outstanding”. GCSE results are also strong and significantly above national average for boys in terms of progress.

Our extra-curricular provision ensures that all students are given exciting and diverse opportunities to participate and excel, particularly in the arts and in sport. The school has achieved national success in several sports, while the senior rowing squad has won the Henley Royal Regatta on numerous occasions with rowers going on to represent Great Britain. The school regularly puts on plays and concerts, often in partnership with The Windsor Girls’ School, and there are numerous other clubs and societies across the school. In recent years, the school has run trips to various corners of the globe, giving students the opportunity to broaden their horizons further. The OFSTED inspection described the extra-curricular programme as “exceptional”, and students are encouraged to get involved at every opportunity.

High quality Teaching and Learning is at the heart of what we do, and staff promote students to work enthusiastically, inquisitively, and independently to achieve their best. Student progress and achievement is carefully monitored, and students are given additional guidance and support where required. As with our extra-curricular provision, success is always celebrated, as we aim to create a culture where students our inspired by others and aspirational for themselves.

The welfare and happiness of our students is paramount, and our pastoral care is delivered through a Year and House system, where a student's tutor will usually be the first contact point for parents. This system ensures that students are supported academically and pastorally, while also developing camaraderie, friendship and healthy competition.

In short, students at The Windsor Boys’ School are happy, aspirational and successful, and are supported by expert staff who care deeply about them. You will be able to learn much more about the school through the website, but I would also encourage you to visit, should you wish, to see the school in action. We look forward to meeting you.
