If you wish to make an application to Windsor Schools’ Sixth Form, please note that there is a different application process depending on whether you are a student in Year 11 at TWBS/WGS or at another school. Please refer to the relevant information below.

Students currently in Year 11 at TWBS/WGS

Year 11 students will be guided through the application process by their tutors and will receive information in tutor time and assemblies. It is crucial that they attend these, so they don’t miss any information. The process takes place in stages, from the end of the Autumn term to the Spring term.

Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on:

  • 11th November 2025 for courses which take place on Windsor Girls’ School site
  • 13th November 2025 for courses which take place on The Windsor Boys’ School site

We do hope you will come along. Students are encouraged to attend both open evenings where possible.

Students have time after this to consider whether they wish to make a Sixth Form application and to explore other options, such as visiting Colleges, etc.

Students who wish to apply to Windsor Schools’ Sixth Form will need to complete an online application form HERE

The deadline for completing the application form is 16th January 2026

Students will be asked to attend a one-to-one meeting with a senior member of staff, starting from 9th February 2026, during which they will complete their application to the Sixth Form; the staff member will advise them about courses on which they are likely to be successful, according to their projected Year 11 grades and Average Point Score. Students will be asked to choose 5 qualifying choices and 5 aspirational choices in this meeting.

  • Students need to have demonstrated that they have a suitable attitude to study.
  • Students will be asked to consider their behaviour for learning and attendance and whether this will enable them to succeed at Windsor Schools’ Sixth Form.

Offers of places in the Sixth Form will be issued by the end of March 2026; all offers are conditional, based on final GCSE/Level 2 results.

This is the only document required at the point of application. You do not need to submit any additional supporting documents for your application to be considered.

Being Offered a Place

Offers of places in Windsor Schools Sixth Form are conditional, based on your final GCSE or Level 2 results. To be offered a place, your results will need to meet the minimum entry requirements for your chosen courses.

For complete applications received before 16 January, conditional offers will be issued by the end of March 2026. Applications received after this date will be treated as late and will only be considered once all on-time applications have been processed.

As all offers are conditional on your results in August, places cannot be confirmed until results day. We recommend that you apply to other institutions as well, so that you have options available should your results not meet the required grades.

After You Receive a Conditional Offer

Once a conditional offer has been made, we will contact you to request two supporting documents. These are required as part of the pre-enrolment process and must be submitted before your place can be progressed.

The first is your predicted grades, provided on school letterhead, signed by your Head of Year or equivalent and stamped with your school stamp. The second is a character reference, completed using the form that will be sent to you with your conditional offer, signed by your Head of Year or equivalent and stamped with your current school stamp.

Please note that these documents are used for pre-enrolment planning purposes only. They play no part in the decision on whether to offer you a place, which is based solely on your final GCSE or Level 2 results.

Catchment and Travel

Whilst The Windsor Boys' School and Windsor Girls' School have designated admissions areas, applications to Windsor Schools Sixth Form are welcome from outside those areas, provided students are able to be on site by 8.35am and remain until at least 3.05pm each day.

External applications are strongly encouraged and we seek to offer places whenever we can. We look forward to receiving your application.

Summary: What You Need to Submit

At the point of application, you need to submit only the completed online application form.

After a conditional offer has been made, you will be asked to provide your predicted grades on signed school letterhead and a completed character reference form, signed and stamped by your Head of Year or equivalent.

Full details of how to submit these documents will be provided with your conditional offer.
