The importance of behaviour for learning
Thu 25 Mar 2021This week’s assembly sought to help students better understand that while academic achievement is clearly an important facet of school life we value and develop the behaviours required to be successful in both school and the workplace. We aim to develop the individual by promoting the importance of resilience and application in overcoming adversity.

Intermediate Maths Challenge
Thu 25 Mar 2021We would like to congratulate all 58 Year 10 pupils who took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge during lockdown.
The Intermediate Maths Challenge is a national competition that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. To see so many of our top mathematicians volunteer to compete in this extracurricular challenge, particularly during school closures and online learning, was impressive. If you, yourself, fancy trying a few of the questions from this year’s Challenge, more information about the United Kingdom Mathematical Trust (UKMT) and it’s challenges can be found here: https://www.ukmt.org.uk/
To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, UKMT award the top-scoring 40% of participants Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1.
We have now received the results and certificates are being distributed in lessons this week. A special mention to the following boys who achieved a score in the top 40% and thus a certificate:

Covid-19 Testing at TWBS
Wed 17 Mar 2021After more than 2500 Covid-19 tests we have finally finished our three in-house lateral flow tests of all pupils on their return to school!
This huge operation was carried out in the Sports Hall and was made so much easier by the fantastic behaviour of the boys who were a credit to their parents/carers as they travelled through our testing centre in a calm and orderly manner. The agency staff who were assisting with the testing now know the history of the house names at TWBS and commented, more than once, on the politeness of our students.
