Intermediate Maths Challenge

We would like to congratulate all 58 Year 10 pupils who took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge during lockdown.

The Intermediate Maths Challenge is a national competition that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. To see so many of our top mathematicians volunteer to compete in this extracurricular challenge, particularly during school closures and online learning, was impressive. If you, yourself, fancy trying a few of the questions from this year’s Challenge, more information about the United Kingdom Mathematical Trust (UKMT) and it’s challenges can be found here:

To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, UKMT award the top-scoring 40% of participants Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1.

We have now received the results and certificates are being distributed in lessons this week.  A special mention to the following boys who achieved a score in the top 40% and thus a certificate:

Habishek Devandhiran – Best in School
Jack Birchmore
Brodie Laing
Atti Chute
Bhavesh Sharma
Mark Venter
Arun Karavadra
Markus Lopez

Max Toft
Oscar Peace
Rohan Dubey
Harry Weston
Finley Tilbury
Arjun Bassi
James Campbell
Ben Wagstaff

Again, a huge well done to all who took part!
