Year 9 TWBS House Events

This week the Year 9 pupils and Sixth formers had their opportunity to represent their House in Rugby and Table Tennis, and the Year 9s in Art, Invention and Creative Writing too.

Thankfully for the rugby players, the overnight and early morning rain gave way to blue skies on both Monday (Year 9) and Wednesday (Sixth form) so that conditions were perfect for good running rugby. A strong Burnett side narrowly beat Allen in Year 9 while Ford were unbeaten all day to win the Sixth Form competition, victorious over (the previously undefeated) Lambdin in their final.

In Table Tennis Woodland’s Sixth formers made a mends for their dismal showing in rugby to win the tournament, while in Year 9 a full round-robin league schedule saw Burnett finish top of the pile. Some fantastic spooky stories were devised and performed in the Creative Writing – 9 Woodland with the spookiest and best entry on the day.

Personification on animals in art was the theme set by Miss Tombs for the artists, and some amazing entries (pictured elsewhere in the newsletter) were produced; Warwick’s entry was adjudicated the winning piece.

In the DT rooms the tasks were to design and prototype an educational toy for children & then sell it to the competitors in a Dragons’ Den style presentation. Some novel ideas were put forward, but the Burnett team were the ones that got the most investment and thus the winning team!
