Year 9 Hockey v Eton

On Tuesday last week, the Year 9 Hockey A Team faced off against a very good Eton College Team. Windsor had already been at the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat to Eton in the County tournament earlier in the session and started the game looking like a side that expected to be beaten. Eton took the lead after a few minutes and the writing could have been on the wall, but Windsor dug deep and decided they were not going to give in without a fight. This spirit was shown throughout the team with Jowan Bailey and Isaac Thornton taking control of midfield and using the full backs Will Branch and Max Hilton to attack up the wings. Windsor then came back into the game with an excellent break-away goal from the pacey Ben Swanborough. This seemed to have put some fire back into Eton and they went on full attack mode for the rest of the half, pinching a second just before half time. After the break Windsor again found themselves on the back foot but excellent defending lead by Branch and Hilton ensured that the Windsor goal stayed intact. As the second half went on Windsor grew in confidence and then equalised with an excellent goal from Tom Peace. This once again got Eton firing again and they tried all they could to get a winner but Windsor held strong and finished the game with an excellent 2-2 draw.
