Year 10 create Silhouettes for House Art Event
On Monday for the house art event, year 10 students were asked to create silhouettes inspired by the work of American artist Kara Walker in light of black history month.
Walker creates silhouettes to form tales about moments in black history and forces the viewer to confront this painful history. Each house was asked to portray the life of an influential black person by creating silhouettes to tell their story.
Warwick came first with their depiction of Louis Armstrong, Burgess came second with their take on Frederick Douglass’ life and thirdly Burnett won for their creative efforts on representing the musical success of Ethel Waters.
