House Events

This week all our Year 9 and Year 10 boys took part in their second House events this year, either playing Football or Ultimate Frisbee, or taking part in Art, DT or Creative Writing tasks.

The Year 10 DT project was to plan and design a prototype environmentally friendly/reusable device whereas the Year 9’s designed and made an educational toy. My thanks to Mr Noctor for organising and running these events, and to Mr Downing for his entirely impartial and expert judging of entries.

The themes and entries from the Year 9 & 10 artists are detailed elsewhere in this newsletter, but the standard and variety of art produced by all the boys was amazing, with inspiration from Kara Walker for the Year 10s and Aboriginal Art for Year 9.  My thanks to Miss Tombs for devising and organising this and enabling those students to showcase their talents.

The Creative Writing event revolved around a random draw of “task cards” giving a theme, a scenario, a protagonist and an event. Dystopian robot stories rubbed shoulders with romance on a desert island, with the performance and visual representation of the stories also part of the grading criteria. Mrs Winters was the mastermind behind this, so my thanks go to her for this event.

The PE department and Mark Bignal from the Windsor School Sports Partnership did a fantastic job running the Football and Ultimate Frisbee events in near-perfect weather conditions, as per the attached photos. Warwick claimed a clean sweep of the Frisbee and Burnett were victorious in both Football competitions. Please see attached photos for both these events.
