Gold Duke of Edinburgh 2021 Expedition
Congratulations to five Windsor Boys, Oliver McElroy, Matthew Wellington, Adam Lawson, Jake Lomas and Luke O’Hara who, along with nine students from Windsor Girls School completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Assessed expedition this week.
The week threw all weathers at them: rain (of course – this was the Brecon Beacons!); 30 degrees heat; thunderstorms and howling winds!
Walking 15-25km per day for 4 days carrying everything they needed: tent; sleeping bag; roll mat; food; clothes, the students have to be totally self-sufficient for their whole time away.
The scenery was utterly breathtaking but challenging in elevations and navigation. The adventures and stories will live with them forever.
It was wonderful to see them in such high spirits at the end.
The minibus may have smelt of smelly feet on the way home but it was full of stories and laughter and as these boys move onto new beginnings. I know they will forever hold a part of Windsor Boys School in their adventurous spirits.
We wish you all the best of luck boys!
