Simplifying expressions by cancelling. Substitute positive and negative numbers into expressions including those involving brackets and powers.

Solve angle or perimeter problems using algebra. Find the nth term of a linear sequence or a pattern sequence. Find the equation of a straight line from a graph.

 

Histograms with equal class intervals. Stem and leaf diagrams. Pie charts using simple fractions and percentages. Estimating the mean from a grouped data frequency table. Line of best fit and outliers in scatter graphs. Enlargement of shapes using fractions and negatives. Recognise and describe transformations.

 

 

Understand, recall and use Pythagoras’ Theorem in 2D. Calculate the length of a line segment given pairs of points. Find a percentage of a quantity using a multiplier. Calculate reverse percentages. Use a ratio to convert between measures and currency. Calculate distance on velocity-time graphs. Calculate pressure. Reflect, revise, extend.

 

Find volume/solve problems involving surface area/volume of prisms & cylinders. Calculate the perimeter of compound shapes made from triangles and rectangles. Calculate the area of compound shapes made from triangles, rectangles, trapezia and parallelograms. Reflect, revise, extend.

 

Use Venn diagrams to solve probability problems. Understand selection with or without replacement. Find the probability of successive events. Identify possible sources of bias in the design and use of data collection sheets and questionnaires. Understand primary and secondary data sources. Reflect, revise, extend.
