Nottingham Autumn Head of River - Oct 22, 2021

A depleted through illness, yet still a large squad of senior rowers travelled to Nottingham last Sunday to race the Nottingham Autumn Head of River on the River Trent. A challenging 5.5km course that meanders around gently, the course is a good test of early season fitness, especially as all of them raced both the morning and afternoon divisions in different boat categories.

A very early start for the trailer (03:30AM! and not back to Windsor until nearly 10pm), and with most travelling up early too, it is quite the effort to get everything to Nottingham on time. The effort is always worth it though as they all raced well and developed important processes. In particular, the Year 11 squad, so affected by the Covid challenges and a real lack of racing experience especially in the winter season, it was an excellent chance to progress key skills.

Results of the morning division saw Charlie Warren win the J18 singles event, with Jack Cadwallader taking the win in J17 singles. Solid performances from all the others saw a decent spread of results.

In the afternoon division, the athletes joined forces into crew boats, which saw a further win for Charlie Warren in the J18 doubles with partner Dylan James, and an excellent win for the J16 quad of Atticus Chute Jakob Truter Sanad Al Qahef and Pedro Theiraga.

Well done to all those raced and thank you to all the parents for transporting them to and from Nottingham!
