Director of Music Report for TWBS – Week 5 - Oct 8, 2021

Another great week in the music department and lots to be very proud of. Rehearsals for The Little Mermaid are going well and we are getting closer to our end of term concert. Every morning we have ensembles rehearsing and during the day this continues at break and lunch. We have also seen lots of students starting their guitar & drum lessons this week and we are really proud of them.

On Saturday 2nd we provided music for the Boat Club 80th Anniversary Dinner. It was a wonderful event and I was really proud of the Big Band who performed. Giving up a Saturday evening is very much part of music department life but I still appreciate the sacrifice and commitment of the students.

This week we have had two rehearsals for our Night at the Musicals which is taking place next week. Monday 11th October, 17:30, Drama Studio Theatre. It will be an evening of songs from the shows and will feature boys & girls from the upper schools. I am really proud of the students, and I am looking forward to the evening. Please do book your free tickets here – https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BGUI

This Sunday we have our next big rehearsal for The Little Mermaid – always great to get the cast together at the weekend. I always find that we get more done on a Sunday and there is always a great energy amongst the cast.

We are now over half way through the first half term and I am so proud of all we have achieved. I would love you to join us at our Autumn Concert on Thursday 21st October to see the product of all the hard work. This concert will feature all of our ensembles, bands and choirs, along with some soloists. It will be an evening packed full of great music and I know it will be a great evening.

Tickets are available for purchase online, please click below to book. There will be a licensed bar on the night and it really is fun for all the family! Doors open at 18:00 and there is parking available at The Windsor Boys’ School. It is taking place in the Main Hall and I hope you can join us – https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BHDY

I think that is all from me for this week. I hope you can join us on Monday for our Night at the Musicals and I look forward to letting you know how it went next week.

Thanks to all the students who performed on Saturday night and to Sam McCreanor & Zac Gallagher for their tech support.

Have a great weekend!
