Director of Music Report for TWBS – Week 18 - Jan 28, 2022

This week has been a rather tough week for so many staff and students – but we have got to the end. Covid has certainly not gone away and yet despite this, we have continued to do all we can in the music department.

The week started with two big rehearsals on Monday & Tuesday for our Night at the Musicals. This is taking place on Monday 30th January and is set to be an incredible evening. We have 40 students performing in total and they are singing songs from a wide range of musicals. There aren’t many tickets left, but please do have a look and see if you can grab one. All money raised will go towards the work of the music department across Windsor Learning Partnership.

This week also saw the first in-person meeting for “The Friends of WLP Music”. This meeting was attended by parents from across the trust and it was exciting to talk about future plans and events. I am incredibly grateful to these parents for taking the step to form this group. If you would like to be part of it, then please just send me an email.

On Wednesday this week I took a group of students to see West Side Story at The Old Court. It was lovely to secure a private screening of this film, which was a big hit with the students. It was nice to go and enjoy a musical on screen and get excited for our Lower School Musical this summer – all will be revealed soon.

Thursday saw the launch of the TWBS Music Society – we launched on Mozart’s birthday. It was great to gather students from all year groups to chat about music, and in particular, the impact of Mozart. This society will now meet every week to chat about music. Open to all, they can bring food and enjoy the chat!

That just leaves me to say, have a lovely weekend and I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.
