Director of Music Report for TWBS – Week 11 - Dec 7, 2021
In some ways this week is a shorter week with an inset day on Friday. However, for a number of pupils we have now reached the crunch time for The Little Mermaid. Rehearsals are taking place every day and the students involved are working incredibly hard on this massive production. We have been up against it this year with covid, but we have turned a corner now and the show is ready to go. The students in the production have a massive week ahead and I hope you can join us. There are hopefully still some tickets left for you to buy, so please do grab yours now before they go! – https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BIAX
On Saturday 20th November some of our students performed at the Christmas Lights Switch on in central Windsor. I am so glad that we could take part, albeit with reduced numbers. Thanks to the students who came along – it wasn’t too cold this year.
Sunday 21st was a massive day for rehearsals and we almost had the whole cast of The Little Mermaid in for about 6 hours! It was a massive day and we got a huge amount done.
In lessons we are hitting composition season with students in Years 9 – 13 all creating music in every lesson. Year 10 are also working on Soundtrap at home, and this is an exciting step forward to give them access to music software in the cloud. I am so pleased to see the engagement in lessons and hear the great pieces that are being created.
Christmas music is all around us and we have the carol services on the horizon. The main service that you are invited to is on Thursday 16th December, 19:00, in the Parish Church. Here you will get to hear all the Christmas music that we have prepared, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. I would ask that if you are planning to come to this event you complete this short form to let us know how many to expect. It is a free event, although we do ask for donations for the church and the music department.

This time next week we will be very truly Under the Sea! And then not long after that we will be flying through the sky with the reindeer. It is a wonderful time of year for the music department and the school. I hope you can join us for The Little Mermaid and our carol service. And on Thursday 25th November you might even catch us playing at the ice-rink.
Thanks for all the support of music.
